Well, the wait is FINALLY almost over. Our next release, REEFER CHAMBER, is out everywhere on July 28. Be sure to save it on your favorite streaming platforms, and of course you can pre-order it on our Bandcamp. We'll have some CDs up on the store, as soon as they get here. Check out this sweet artwork by the legendary Steven Yoyada!
And on release day, July 28, head over to Westside Bowl and catch us playing some of these new bangers at the Ohio Doomed and Stoned Fest! This is gonna be a crazy weekend, and we can't wait to hang out with all our buds. Hope to see you there!!
Well, here we are on another 420. Hopefully, wherever you are it's a day full of sunshine, good health, and mountains of prime bud. As you might of guessed, we aren't going to let the day go by without a little celebration, so we've got some cool stuff to share. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram for all the latest, including some videos throughout the day.
First, we're extremely excited to announce our pals at Toke Mage carved up some badass Marijuana Johnson dugouts! These are handmade in Texas from cherry wood, and holy hell are they nice. Each duggie comes with a one-hitter bat and they're deep to hold enough [TOBACCO] to last a night out...well, or an hour if you're us. These are real limited, so grab one right here in our store before they're gone.
We're also super stoked to announce we're included in a brand new compilation from the legendary Weedian, out on Bandcamp today! If you're unfamiliar with Weedian's amazing releases--where you been?--today is obviously the day to check it out. And while you're at it, be sure and check out their new Patreon. We joined day one, and let us tell you, it's way worth it.
And while you're on Bandcamp, we have a special 420 price on our entire digital discography. You can grab every Marijuana Johnson release--six, in total, including our two albums and four EPs--for the amazing price of, you guessed it, only $4.20. We've got plenty of merch on Bandcamp, too! Grab a trucker hat or a new shirt.
Last but certainly not least, we're headed back into the studio next week to record our next album! We seriously can't wait for you to hear what we've been working on. And the art? Oh, man...our boy Steven Yoyada has outdone himself. We'll see you out there in the smoke today, and hopefully in a venue near you soon enough.
Big news! We're playing the Ohio Doomed and Stoned Fest in Canton, Ohio this July! The lineup, as you can see, is completely stacked and we can't wait to melt faces with our friends' bands and hang out for the weekend. We'll be playing sometime on Friday, July 29--set times will be coming out later--but honestly just look at the bands on this fest; you're gonna want to come for both days.
In the meantime, be sure to follow the official Ohio Doomed and Stoned page on Facebook for more info and to stay in the know when tickets drop. We've got more shows to announce soon, and lots of other cool stuff in the works for the big ol' 4/20 festivities next week, so be sure to keep up with us on Facebook and Instagram. See you out there soon! Stay high!
Well, it's hard to believe, but Gem City Kush turned one year old on January 15. Between working on the next record and all of the general insanity of the past year, the anniversary really crept up on us. We're still very proud of our little self-released album and it's awesome to still get so many compliments on it. We're pretty damn sure this next record is going to be even better, so more on that soon! In the meantime, head over to Bandcamp and give GCK a spin.
In other news, we're super honored to find out we're going to be included in this upcoming book, The Stoner Freaks Anthology Vol. 2! These guys are crowdfunding this second volume and it looks pretty amazing already, with hundreds and hundreds of stoner rock bands included plus sweet interviews, etc. And look at that art--you want a copy already, don't you? Head over to the crowdfunding page and let's get this bad boy made. We ordered a copy of the book with a dope signed poster. But that tier is limited so get on it.
Lastly, we're playing Blind Bob's in Dayton on January 28, with a bunch of our friends' bands, to benefit our buddy Paul B who went through some serious medical issues recently and is stuck with some heavy bills. Come out and see us and support Paul. More show announcements on the way, too. See ya soon and STAY HIGH!
Well, thanks in no small part to the damn plague, we haven't played a show in over TWO YEARS. Yeah, that sucks. Well, the good news is we do have a couple of shows coming up and they're both in October. First, we're playing The Yellow Cab Tavern on October 2nd with BLACK SIRE and MAHARAJA. This should be a rad night of heavy tunes, and if you're more inclined, this is an outdoor show. Come out, enjoy what may be one of the last nights of decent weather in Ohio. Plus, you can grab a slice of Pizza Bandit pizza! This is gonna rule.
Next up, we're playing with our boys from Lancaster, GUDGER, and our fellow Dayton heavy rockers RATTLESNAKE VENOM TRIP on October 9th at Blind Bob's. We're actually billing this as our album release show for GEM CITY KUSH. Yes, that album came out way back in January--psst buy it right here--but we didn't get to really send off in true Marijuana Johnson style. We're gonna make up for it that night...don't miss this one.
We can't wait to see you, and--fingers crossed--maybe we'll have some out of town shows booked near you soon.
We have some cool news! Our new music video for Smoke Signals will premiere August 13 at 12pm Eastern time on our YouTube channel (and probably a few other spots, watch our social media for more). Smoke Signals is a wild song, so we had to make a wild video to go along with the last track off Gem City Kush. We don't want to spoil anything, but let's just say we visit Nepal, steal weed from a dragon, go to outer space---yeah, it's bonkers. We can't wait for you to check it out! Here's a still from the video, showing off our all-Orange gear...admittedly in black and white, haha.
Matt was super stoked to finally get his second Orange OBC410 and now the gear is complete for shows (more on that very soon. Finally). Serious air is getting moved around.
Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and click the bell icon so you're notified as soon as the Smoke Signals video is released. You don't want to miss this. You can do that here: https://bit.ly/3jFmvsS
So much badass stuff in the pipeline, so keep an eye on us! More soon.
If you don't already, you should definitely follow us on Instagram. That's where we post all of the goofy shit we get up to, including the design idea for our new shirts. All three of us in Marijuana Johnson love baseball--you can probably figure out which team considering we're from southern Ohio. People liked this Mr. Redeyes design so much, we decided to throw him on some baseball tees. They turned out super rad and you can grab one right now in the store!
We've been hard at work, writing new songs for our next full-length album. Yes, we just may put out two full-length records in 2021. What can we say, if you can't play shows and tour you might as well keep on writing bangers. The songs are turning out awesome so far and we can't wait to get back in the studio to record them. We'll have more on that soon enough. Until then, follow us on Instagram for more and tag us in a post showing off your MJ merch; we love that shit.
Today is the day! Our new album, Gem City Kush, is out in the wild and we couldn't be more excited for everyone to hear it. You can order a digital download, a nice six-panel CD digipak, or even a bundle with one of our sweet new trucker hats. They're friggin cool, I mean look at these Orange-inspired things.
Of course, you can also find the album and merch on Bandcamp, too. And if you're more into listening to music on streaming services, Gem City Kush is now available on pretty much every platform under the sun, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. Don't forget these streaming services are still exploiting artist's labor, and while they're sort of a necessity these days and are a good way to discover music, you're better off supporting artists directly, like right on our website. You can learn more about how the Union of Musicians and Allied Workers are trying to make places like Spotify treat artists with respect at their website.
We've also been super fortunate to have a number of great music blogs, pages, and curators give some love to Gem City Kush. Big thanks to Steve Howe at Outlaws of the Sun and Roberto Lucas at DenpaFuzz for their kinds words and for helping to get the music out to the people. Also, we want to thank New Noise Magazine for hosting our full album stream this past week. And last, but far far from least, a huge shoutout to our homies Tim and Joe at Sweet Cheetah Publicity for their hard work making sure this album got in front of some media folks before release. Needless to say, we feel loved.
We've got some things in the works, including a livestream, coming soon. We can't get back on the road yet, so we'll just have to bring the show to you. Hopefully, this nightmare will be over soon and we can see all of your smiling faces in person. Until then stay heavy, stay high, and wash your goddamn hands.
We're super excited to announce our next full-length album, Gem City Kush, will drop on January 15, 2021 and is available for preorder right now! Ash, Elliott, and Matt have worked away on putting this banger together over the last year and we can't wait for everyone to hear it. Keep your eyes on our social media accounts for some upcoming music streams and some giveaways for our friends. We miss you all horribly and hopefully it won't be too much longer until we can all party together at a Marijuana Johnson show!
